The Philosophy of Science

Course Description

This graduate course provides a systematic introduction to the foundational philosophical questions and issues concerning scientific knowledge in general and language (teaching) in particular as well as their methodology. It first explores basic tenets of philosophy (and philosophy of science) and succinctly reviews historical accounts of philosophy. Also, it surveys a variety of positions on philosophy of science topics, centered around ontology, epistemology and axiology. The second half of the semester will revolve around philosophical questions and issues of philosophy of language and its teaching.
